Hutt City Council Looking for a Community Group Who Are Making a Difference

Submitted by on June 17, 2011 – 2:48 pm

HUTT CITY COUNCIL NEWS RELEASE

17 JUNE 2011

Nominations open to recognise those making a difference

Do you know community groups who are making a difference and deserve recognition for their work? If so, nominate them for a Wellington Airport Regional Community Award or Hutt City Safe City Award.

The awards are presented annually by Hutt City Council to honour voluntary groups for their outstanding contribution to the community.

Mayor Ray Wallace is encouraging people to nominate voluntary groups as a way of showing their appreciation and gratitude for their service in the community.

“Our community is made richer through the work of these groups, many of whom are dedicated to improving our environment, making the city safer, and providing opportunities for social and personal development.”

Thanks to the  following environmentally responsible businesses for supporting Happyzine:

The Community Awards are sponsored by Wellington International Airport Limited, in partnership with The Community Trust of Wellington and the region’s five local councils. Award categories include: heritage and environment, health and wellbeing, arts and culture, sport and leisure, and education and child/youth development.

Safe City Awards nominations can be made for both individuals and groups.

Make a nomination online at www.huttcity.govt.nz/communityawards or pick up a form at any Hutt City library, Hutt City Council at 30 Laings Road, or by calling 04 570 6666.

Nominations close at 5pm on Friday 19 August 2011.

The Community and Safe City Awards winners together with the Civic Honours Award winners will be announced at the Hutt City Community Awards evening on 22 September.
