Taita, New Zealand: The Great Seed Swap at The Great Start House…

Submitted by on August 25, 2011 – 8:21 am

Its almost time to get planting for Spring !

Many gardeners have seeds that they have saved, to share.

Why not bring them to swap for seeds that you don’t have?

Saturday 3rd September

1 ~ 3:30pm

The Great Start House

5 Cooper Street, Taita.

Dave Treadwell from Ecoseeds will be with us to talk seeds and planting, and he will also have some of his own organic heirloom seed for sale. This is a great chance to get some knowledge from an expert!  www.ecoseeds.co.nz

Our children from The Great Start Children’s Gardening Club will be around with some of their seeds and strawberry plants to swap.  They will also have their Project Sunshine Sunflower Packs to give out.

Old heirloom and rare seeds especially welcome.  Seedlings and cuttings also.  Please also bring your own envelopes or containers to take your seeds home in.

You may not have seeds to swap, BUT you might have a bag or two of homemade compost, some extra worms from your worm farm, a bale of straw, some preserves or baking, some lovely eggs from your chickens…..anything  !

As always this is a family friendly event, but all children must bring a big person.

We look forward to seeing our friends and making some new ones from the wider community, and as we know, great gardeners share….   if everyone brings something to share for afternoon tea too, that would be great, thanks!

For more information, please contact Julia on (027) 372 3385 or [email protected]
