The Backingblack HQ Comedy Scrum
Warning: some content may offend and it is recommended that young children do not attend.
It’s time to celebrate, in good humour, that all the world has come to town. We have an international selection of local comedians who are standing up for black.
The line-up includes;
MC Terry Frisby – originally from Invercargill, with 15 years experience on local and overseas comedy stages including 10 years on the UK Pro circuit.
Darren Jardine – originally from Ireland, now a NZ resident with 10 years’ experience on the local stand-up circuit, and an enthusiastic social player of the game.
Urzila Carlson – originally from South Africa, 2011 Billy T Comedy Award nominee, and a rising star on our local pro comedy circuit.
Rob Callaghan – an English geezer with Irish roots who has made New Zealand his home. A foot in all camps.
Tevita Manukia – Tonga’s only pro comedian on the local circuit and a crowd favourite at The Classic.
James Nokise – probably the most unusual ‘hybrid’ with both Samoan and Welsh parentage. A regular on both the local and UK pro comedy circuit.
Gish – Local Maori comedian who is a ‘YouTube’ hit and a favourite around the country for his edgy song parodies.
