My name’s Charlotte Squire, I’m the founder and Creative Director of Happyzine.

Happyzine is an online platform for good news that inspires positive change within our communities and for our environment. It’s awesome. It serves up fresh, clever, innovative news daily.  The day to day running of Happyzine is funded by you: the Happyzine reader.

Happyzine takes time and energy to run.  I just love running Happyzine, but I have a family to support and bills to pay.  Happyzine isn’t big enough to attract online advertising from larger businesses yet, so it comes down to you, the reader.  If many of you could give just a little, it would make a huge difference.  I invite you to support us with the ‘pay what you can’ model, even if it’s $1 per week – that’s less than the price of a daily newspaper these days.  To do this, sign up to Club Happyzine.

As a member of Club Happyzine you’re enabling us to give voice to a whole heap of changemakers who might otherwise not be heard and celebrated such as: youth, social change agents and organisations, Maori, green designers and leaders, community development practitioners, artists, writers, poets, our elders, queer people, ethical business people, inspiring educators, health practitioners, gardeners, and many, many more people and groups who are quietly out there making a difference.

This is the news our mainstream media only prints on a quiet day. This is the news that fills us with hope.

Our 2013 goal

We figure if 500 of you gave just a little, together we could make a real difference to thousands by sharing hopebuilding stories with a society that is thirsty for kindness and encouragement.

If you could spare just $1 – $3 per week, we could continue to run Happyzine and make a difference to many, one inspiring story at a time.

And as well as the feel good factor, as an added bonus each of you who signs up to Club Happyzine will go in regular draws to win the most environmentally and ethically sound prizes we can find. We work with the most inspiring businesses to promote their products. We love giving ’em away, and we know you love receiving them in the post!
