Northland Designer of the Year at the Bernina Northland Fashion Awards is Nganeko Keelan aged 13. Nganeko has been designing since he was 5 and this is the third year he has entered the competition.  This year he submitted a mask which was entered against 79 other designers many of them adults. As part of the prize Nganeko will be get to go to the World of Wearable Arts festival in October. This festival is in Wellington where as the Northern Advocate reports, Nganeko is excited to see all of the amazing creations that could inspire him. We are looking forward to that too.
