New Brighton design competition calls for creative ideas for five “tiny huts”
“Ideas include a wedding chapel, a puzzle room, an optical illusion and a reading room,” the council’s head of urban design, regeneration and heritage Carolyn Ingles said.
She said they were looking for “imaginative designs” from the community that reinvent the idea of a beach hut with a “fresh and interesting purpose.”
The five winners will each receive $2000 and enjoy watching their huts being installed in the New Brighton town centre.
Christchurch City Council and the New Brighton community are running the competition and they want entrants to think outside the square.
