Relax. Now, more than ever, is the time to relax. Now’s the time to shift the focus away from any issue that doesn’t feel good. Now’s the time reclaim that old hobby that used to fill you with strength and wonder. Now’s the time to take a holiday, read a great novel, and eat chocolate. Nows the time to switch off the TV and make crazy and beautiful music with your family. In fact, I declare this month – Follow Your Bliss Month. What a fantastic quote Joseph Campbell provided us with when he said “follow your bliss and the universe will open doors where there were only walls”. The irony of committing to feeling good is that when we relax, those things we’ve been asking for slip into our lives with ease. I’ve been astounded at how well this notion works this past month. My family and I moved from a city where we were based for work, to a town that we simply love. We did it on a whim, confident (much to the horror of some of our friends) that everything would work out fine. I was excited to put the power of positive thinking into action for this move, and so, when ever my mood began to drop, I would head out into nature with my dog and my son. We’d always go somewhere beautiful and I would always feel better, inspired by the sheer power of this land. And my grand, simple plan worked. I remained optimistic, we remained optimistic, and everything fell perfectly into place. We continued to feel wealthy and lucky and blessed, and we are. Inspiring Kiwi – For the love of Lolly How does she do it? Nelson based Lolly-Dadley-Moore has been a highly sought after multi-disciplined body-worker for two decades, this year. She spends her days listening to the often unspoken tales of the human body, reminding them to relax and realign. Her chosen vocation requires strength on all levels, in fact many body workers need to take a break after seven years in this field. But Lolly’s somehow managed to remain healthy and happy. She attributes her wellbeing to a range of factors: topping her list is the fifteen minutes of Yoga she does first thing each morning; she also rock climbs, plays with her children, loves going to parties, she dances, and she eats well, “generally I do things that keep my energy high”. It’s the little things… |
Join the Southern Seed Exchange
Seeds may not be the most glamerous and sexy subject, but they’re pretty hot in nature’s communication system! They’re everywhere, even inside us, and so it’s easy to take them for granted. But they’re one of our greatest treasures. Seeds are right up there with water – essential to life. Each seed contains the blueprint of its evolution and is so perfectly formed that, when supported with the right conditions, it will create something new – such as a tree, or a watermelon, or a human being. Seeds are quite obviously worthy of great celebration and ceremony. The Southern Seed Exchange is a not-for-profit group of volunteers coordinating the saving and distributing of vege, herb, grain and flower seeds from all over New Zealand. Membership is $15 ($10 unwaged) and entitles you to order as many seed packs as you need at no extra cost. Seed “guardians” have an even lower membership cost. Support is provided for those willing to save seed of varieties in need of being grown “seed to seed.” Once you join, you’ll receive the current seed list and the list of seeds for which guardians are needed. Write to Matt for a membership form: [email protected] |
