Nelson’s Festival of Opportunities – A Place to Reclaim Well-Being
What is the purpose of the Festival of Opportunities? The Festival is the 19th Annual Festival and is a showcase of everything available in Nelson for you and your loved one’s total well-being. A place to come and learn, expand, be inspired and have treats and fun. And to meet old and new friends.
Who are you and what’s your role with the Festival? I am the organizer or more appropriately caretaker of the Festival as it does have a life of its own!
What makes the Festival of Opportunities special? The whole ambiance of the weekend – how mellow and relaxed and uplifting it is – just being there let alone all the amazing workshops and talks and Healers waiting to pamper you or help you come back into balance and joy
It sounds like quite a positive title for a Festival, is positivity an underlying theme? YES
Can you list some of the highlights that you’re looking forward to at the Festival? This year we have an amazing number of new presenters from countries including, England, Scotland and USA. Mediums and a pipekeeper of the Native American tradition, and a father and son Lakota dancer, and special NZ mediums from around the country.
How many people are you expecting? I always aim for huge numbers including lots that have never been. Traditionally we have around 2000 over the weekend and we can cater for thousands more.
When and where is the Festival? 6th and 7th March 10am to 6pm at Founders Park in sunny Nelson.
How did it first begin and can you explain the journey its taken since then? It began 19 years ago and was created by Avery Dash – the owner of the shop Possibilities and was called Possibilities until it changed hands ten years ago. Maureen Mckain was the organizer and now me.
What vision do you have for future Festival of Opportunities? World-renowned and a sellout before the weekend. On the world circuit.
What can people expect to walk away with after a day at the Festival? A great feeling, new knowledge and awareness and an improvement in physical and mental wellbeing if they had sessions.
