Blooming Sisters – by The Mudfaery
“Sisters are doing it for themselves!”…as the song goes. In Wainui Bay at the Tui EventSpark, as it is called, all sorts of beautiful events are held through the warmer seasons. Events for youth, women, men, and all of those combined. Creativity programs, rites of passage programs, and gatherings for different reasons.
“The Blooming Sister”, which is the new generation of women’s gatherings put together by women from the Tui Community, is happening for its third time in a couple of weeks. The Blooming Sister is a time for women to come together and nurture, relax, be creative, share, and spend time in nature. The event lasts five days and four nights.
The Tui EventSpark, also known as the “TreeField” is equipped with structures such as Tipis, pentacle tents, and other sleeping spaces. Women may choose to sleep communally in these spaces or bring their own tent. The TreeField has full kitchen facilities, showers, toilets, hot tub, cozy indoor space, sprung dance floor in an outside covered area, and is minutes from the beach. Healthy meals are provided and cooked for the women.
The Blooming Sister has a program full of yumminess, including different dance forms, craft sessions, singing circles, nature exploration, fire circles, and time for the self. Women are encouraged to come and offer their own gifts and skills, or simply participate and be.
The dates for the next event are: 3 March- 7 March, 2010. Spaces are still available, and pre-registration is necessary. The gathering is held in Wainui Bay in Golden Bay.
