Summit for Young Aucklanders to Change Their World
Around 150 young Aucklanders will talk about and take action on a range of topical issues such as the place of youth in the Auckland Council, the environment, our communities and the world of work at this year’s Converse Youth Summit.
The summit, which takes place on 11 and 12 May at the Aotea Centre, is organised by the Auckland City Youth Council. Organised for youth by youth, this free event is open to all Aucklanders aged 15-20 years.
The theme of the fourth Converse summit is Change your World: Raise your voice. Young people will have the opportunity to learn new skills, as well as discuss current youth issues over the two-day summit.
Keynote speakers include Wellington-based journalist and commentator, Jehan Casinader. A panel of central and local government politicians and young people will discuss the role of youth in the amalgamated Auckland Council.
The summit enables young people to discuss key issues that affect them in their city and provide avenues for them to take action on those issues through submissions, projects, and by influencing policy makers.
