Here’s some music to listen to while you read this blog.
Tina Bridgman. If you haven’t heard of her, you will soon. Tonight I fare-welled her, along with a few dozen other Tina fans. She’s heading back to Devon, England after a seven year stint in New Zealand. There are two interesting things about Tina I’d like to share with you.
One: she’s been a musician for over twenty years and knows the guitar better than the back of her hand, whilst also being in possession of the voice of a sighing angel.
Two: five years ago she was in a serious car accident, she only just came out alive, and she lost her hand. It’s been a long, tender, painful, hopeful, healing, optimistic journey for her since then and the one thing that’s remained constant has been her music.
What this woman did, after she lost her hand, was begin to teach guitar. And I was her lucky first student. And what she did a few years later, was teach herself to play the guitar using the stump of her arm to hold down the bass guitar strings, whilst calling on her well honed strumming and picking skills to take care of the details.
Tina kept going, she’s taught hundreds of students to play guitar and sing, and she’s performed before thousands of enthralled people all over the world. She’s just produced yet another album ‘Matariki Morning’ and she’s booked in for just one gig in the UK – Glastonbury. You can buy her previous album ‘In Company of You’ on I-Tunes here. I think that the next steps for Tina are stardom. She’s ready to shine out now, there’s nothing stopping her. Tina Bridgman. You’ll hear her coming soon.

I totally agree Charlotte, Tina is beyond amazing, she is simply an inspiration to us all. Last night as I sat there listening to this divine angelic voice of hers, I closed my eyes and slipped gently into a world where I remembered I need to come when all is not well in my world. Often suffering with bouts of depression, I remembered that listening to Tinas last CD “In the Company of You” had awakened something in me so deep that I felt connected again and it was this place I found again last night. Something so pure, so deep, so beautiful, so natural, it is the voice and music of Ms Tina Bridgman. I wonder whether I can get her CD on prescription 😉 ?
