SOLD: Beautiful Happyzine

Today I wrote out the guide-lines for a new prize draw I’m about to launch upon the  Happyzine community.  I’m really excited about it.  It’s basically the opportunity to win a free weekend for two in Golden Bay.  I’ve talked with some friends and have arranged for free eco-friendly: two nights accommodation, food, movie tickets (I’ll find a reason for them to be green somehow!), organic soaps and essential oils.  This means that once people get there (they have to arrange their own transport), they’re in for an inspiring, relaxing, entertaining stay in an amazing place.  I will launch the competition officially on Monday in time for the weekly ezine.

This is part of my plan/dream to grow the Happyzine subscription base to 100,000 people.  To enter the draw, I’m asking people to send in the email addresses of their friends, family and associates who have agreed to and are willing to, sign up to the free Happyzine weekly ezine.  For each legitimate email address that people send in, they’ll go into the draw one more time to win the weekend.  So if someone sends in twenty email addresses, they’ll enter the draw twenty times.

I’ll have to see how this experience goes, but I’m hoping that it will push Happyzine subscribers up from nearly 700 people to over 1000 people, ideally hitting around 2000 subscribers.  This may not happen.  But I don’t know until I explore this option.  If it goes well, once the numbers have increased, I’m thinking of running a similar prize draw and asking 2000 people to sign their loved ones and networks up to Happyzine.

I really have no idea how well how well this idea will be received, or if the subscribers will rise to anywhere near 2000, or even 1000.  But I’d like to give it a go.  It feels good to try.
