365 Days of Fun and Chillaxation – Blog#57 – Bollywood Fever Strikes Takaka
(While I raise my son and grow my good news website)
Whew. I’ve just returned from a strenous evening of sitting and watching people learn how to dance Bollywood style. You see, we’re creating a You Tube video – I dream of it taking the world by storm, but I’ll be happy if it merely takes the friends and family of the participants by storm. Yes, Bollywood. Right here in little old Golden Bay. It’s gorgeously strange to be witnessing the unfolding of this event.
Gizzelle, she who has trained in the art of Bollywood dance and knows how to do that funny neck thing where they move their heads from side to side whilst keeping their bodies still, had them beaming cheesy smiles and skipping around the old Catholic hall like lithe little Indian extras on a movie set.
I’ve got to say it was both hilarious, and thrilling to watch some of my friends trying with all their hearts to learn, and soon catching on to the moves. Come the end of our session (I spent mine cuddling a shy two year old) they looked amazing. They were ready to hit the streets in a unified gaggle of bright scarves and bindies. I couldn’t help but yell with pleasure and cheer them on occasionally. Especially when Gizzelle got them ‘disappearing’ into the cloak room, only to reappear again in an eager line wearing appropriately cheesy smiles. Apparently it’s good to disappear occasionally and re-appear in the Bollywood dance style.
What a night. And it’s all for you oh Happyzine reader. One of these days, Bollywood fever shall sweep across Happyzine. Until then, I’ll delight in watching it unfold in the Catholic Church hall, on Commercial Street, Takaka.
This is Charlotte Squire, reporting in from Golden Bay. Good night.

Here’s a Bollywood music video – hopefully we can get the men of Takaka performing as well as those on this piece … I find this You Tube video very entertaining.
