365 Days of Fun and Chillaxation – Blog#71 – The Ongoing Gollywood Experience
Gollywood – what do you think? It’s the Golden Bay version of Bollywood (just in case you didn’t figure that out). So here we are, mid-winter, in a small rural community, in New Zealand, learning to dance Bollywood style for the You Tube video we’re going to make. It’s a gorgeous cacophony of old catholic hall meets Indian glamour; chip eating dread-locked Northern English woman turns up and transforms into total sensuality and grace; fifteen flailing beginners morph into smiling and coy. I tell you. The contrast gets me every time. I’m still laughing about my evening now. I’m feeling fully charged up. The great thing for me is that I’ve been able to organise the whole thing from home (including finding Gizzelle the Bollywood trained ex-proffesional dancer to lead them) and I can turn up and hold my shy toddler son on my lap and laugh and appreciate and thoroughly adore the evening of dance from the sidelines. Not dancing is fine, I still get to revel in the feeling of helping to make something seriously delightful and fun happen. Yes, this sort of stuff fills me up. Remind me to do more of this ok?
