Hey Green Business Owners! Sponsored Prizes Are Wanted for the Happyzine Wild Energy Green Design Competition

Submitted by on September 6, 2010 – 8:35 pm One Comment

Kia Ora,

My name’s Charlotte Squire, I’m the Editor of www.happyzine.co.nz – New Zealand’s good news website (with a key focus on positive news about the environment).  I would like to invite you to participate as a sponsor in a world-changing sustainable energy generation design competition, known as ”Wild Energy’ ‘, that is about to sweep the nation.

We’ve developed the ”Wild Energy’ design competition because Meridian Energy propose to develop a hydro generation scheme on the Mokihinui River. This would involve the construction of a dam, and the consequent flooding of part of the valley, and the disruption of many species of wildlife in the area.

We believe that there must be other ways of generating or saving the energy that the proposed scheme would produce, and this competition has been designed to spark the nation’s creativity, and showcase the best ideas.

As a sponsor, we can provide you with the opportunity to promote one key message to New Zealand’s huge pool of environmentally conscious consumers.

Happyzine has partnered up with the New Zealand Wild Rivers campaign – who will help us reach their membership base of over 100,000 people – to promote the ‘Wild Energy’  competition to inventors, designers, students, inventors and creators nationwide.  The Wild Rivers campaign represents Fish and Game, Federated Mountain Clubs, Forest & Bird, Whitewater NZ, the Council of Outdoor Recreation Associations of NZ, the NZ Rafting Association, the New Zealand Federation of Freshwater Anglers and the Environment and Conservation Organisations of NZ.

Our judges panel includes: Jeanette Fitzsimons (who has recently retired from her long held position as co-Leader of the NZ Green Party), Tim Wigmore (a Wellington based designer), Steve Goldthorpe (a Waiapu based energy analyst) Chris Heaslip (an Invercargille based engineer) and Geoff Henderson (CEO of Windflow Technology Ltd and recognised global wind energy expert.

Our panel of NZ Politicians who will choose and comment upon their favorite three designs are: National MP Nicky Wagner, Labour MP Charles Chauvel and Green Party MP Kevin Hague.

This is your chance to support and be associated with a positive, world-changing project.  In return for a produce or service that you could offer to our contestants, we can offer you:
The promotion of your brand (logo) with every press release that we send out
The opportunity to promote one key sales message to our mass audience, for example you might want to offer a one off special as part of this campaign
A link through to your website in every promotional brief that we run on Happyzine

More information:

The development phrase of ‘Wild Energy’ has been driven by two key people over the past nine months, we are –

I’ve been a freelance writer for the past six years, exploring positive environmental change and writing for magazines such as Her Magazine, Organic NZ, Eco-Living, Wild Tomato, the GB Weekly and a range of online publications. I launched www.happyzine.co.nz three years ago to become a media platform for positive social and environmental change.
