365 Days of Fun and Chillaxation – Blog#168 – The Mysteries of the Male Mind
I saw a friend today and he was glowing. He looked as if he’d lost ten years. His skin had softened, his hair seemed lustrous and bouncy. He had this look on his face – that new love look. He did have a new love, his new car. It’s a Suzuki Cappaccino for those of you who have any idea at all about the meaning of this title – a convertible. A small slinky, silver thing that I’m assuming would make most car enthusiasts grin enthusiastically.
What is it about boys and cars? When I first had my wee boy I hit the shops looking for some funky outfits for him. I was looking for greens and maroons, strong, vivid colours. Colours that said: I am my own person! I’m unique and wonderful! And I was faced with the stunningly archaic choices of pink or blue. I was shocked and have taken great pleasure in dressing my boy in reds and pinks where ever possible (he looks quite styly I think).
So when my boy naturally reached for the trucks over the dolls there was nothing I could do but watch and learn. Humbled. Silenced. Since then he’s preferred cars, motorbikes, planes and any thing mechanical, over the fluffy toys or pink sparkly tee shirts that his female counterparts take delight in. Though I must say, he was enthralled by his cousin’s personal kitchen (down sized for the discerning toddler) and also enjoys a good tea party. Just today he got excited about a man on a motorbike. I wonder how far this passion will go …
I found my friends delight hugely entertaining. I love a sexy car just as much as the next person, though my dreams are far greener. Mmmm I can see my electric car in the driveway now …
