365 Days of Fun and Chillaxation – Blog#170 – The Power of Now
Well my friends, the 9000th draft my first ever ebook is with the great David Laing for yet another edit and so this frees me up to write up some accompanying courses I want to run, also called ‘Ten Ways to Chillax and Have Fun as You Live Your Green Dreams’.
As I wrote today, one of our editor/writers Liz Johns sent in a very honest, humble article about the whirling and uncontrollable weather patterns of her brain. She reminded me of that wondrous man Eckhart Tolle who wrote The Power of Now. Thankyou Liz, for the reminder to be here and now, rather than worrying about the future, or regretting the past.
Some days it’s so easy to be in the now what with all the joy and inspiration fizzing about, and others it involves accepting sadness or anger, something else that many of us have been trained to ignore. Acceptance is a grand thing though. I’ve found the last few weeks of finishing my ebook have felt rather painstakingly boring, details, details, so many details to get right. I’m more inclined to be a big picture person.
Liz writes: “I’ve found that initially, by taking attention away from my mind, it starts shouting louder, it really hates to be ignored, it wants to be heard and will do all it can to get its audience back. But sometimes with persistence, I get a moment, the tiniest moment, of calm and presence. Oddly, I’ve felt it make me want to laugh.”
Right. Here I am in the now and I can smell the pumpkin I’m baking is nearly cooked, and I can hear the rain pouring down outside, and Fresh FM’s sending out sweet music. It’s nice to be back in the present.
