365 Days of Fun and Chillaxation – Blog#177 – The Short Run Home
I’m running down the street wearing a knee length floral dress and my most fabbo, funky sheepskin lined boots. My hair is streaming out behind me. My handbag sits light and unnoticed on my hip. And the wind, that had previously been blowing cold and cutting against my face, feels as if it’s parting before me because I’ve become one of its cousins. My heart is pumping blood with gusto and my lungs have responded generously thanks to years of running. I feel as if I’m flying across the ground, as if I’m in a fairy tale and I’ve got super powers and I can run faster than any body in this town.
I’ve just been at a cosy bar with my family and really, there’s no need to run. I’m not late for anything. There is no one chasing me. It’s just that the urge to run overcame me. The urge to run wild and fast and free. I have absolutely no idea why. I feel as if I’m running so fast that nobody could possibly see me. Though perhaps it’s more the sensation of being in my own world. I’ll never forget this run home. I feel like an eight year old girl sprinting through a field. Only I’m a 34 year girl sprinting down the foot path. Same sensation. Different look.
