365 Days of Fun and Chillaxation – Blog#185 – Great News! Jane Austen Was a Poor Speller
Yes, as a writer who is not known amongst her closer associates as the perfect grammatical engineer or the world’s most efficient speller, it was rather nice to read today that Jane wasn’t too hot in these areas either.
You see, for some of us, details such as spelling and grammar just get in the way of the creative flow.
If I worry to much about the little details I get writer’s block, so I just don’t bother. Instead I go with my flow and get the words out of my head and onto the … screen. In my experience, the people who labour over the tiny details get so wrapped up in that aspect of the writing that they loose sight of the greater picture.
That’s why us bigger picture people work well with the smaller details people. Yes … those people who notice the flecks of dirt on your boots, or the fluff on your jersey, or the crumbs on your floor may seem pedantic and strange at times (well they do to me, I was not raised by parents who were concerned with such matters so our house was kind of messy) but they’re invaluable in the greater scheme of things.
It’s those people who help me present my work coherently and help me produce work that is taken seriously by at least some people! It’s those detail orientated human beans that I rely upon to help me smooth out the creases and create beautiful pieces of writing that can hold their own years down the track. Without them, I’d be lost.
As for me though, I’m more concerned with the expression on someone’s face, or the way it feels in a room, or around a person, or, when it comes to writing, the feeling of a piece of work. Anyway, as I said those people help me out immensely, particularly with my spelling and grammar. But I most certainly aint one of them and neither was Jane Austen! Yay!!! We’re like sisters!
Now before I depart and head to bed (as it is very late for me) I would like to proudly announce that we received our first Wild Energy entry today and I shall post it up very soon and tell every body I can think of about it in a very excited manner.
