365 Days of Fun and Chillaxation – Blog 232 – Surprise Christmas Carols Light Up My Night
They appeared out of nowhere at our Playcentre Christmas Party, their music drifting into the Playcentre like the scent of baking chocolate. They traveled community style in a bus, and they were mak’n music, sweet music. Brass band flavoured Christmas carols filled the street. A beaming woman jogged up to us and gave us a Christmas card. And from the depth of the bus shone smiling faces accompanied by shy yet proud waves.
“Did you come especially for us?” I inquired hopefully.
“No, we just happened to drive down this street,” replied the beaming woman. They carried on their merry way and I later heard they’d merrily chugged all around Takaka handing out Christmas cards. Presents, stuff issue, consumerism and everything else-ism that we attach to Christmas, I still find it an exciting time and and I love it when the older generation lead by joyful example.
