365 Days of Fun and Chillaxation – Blog 261 – I Say! Did You Happen to Catch those Lovely Ladies Playing Music in Takaka Today?
Should you have taken a gentle stroll down the main street of Takaka, Golden Bay, New Zealand today at around five pm (at a time when most ladies should be at home removing the casserole from the oven) you might have come across three delightful young ladies, wearing the most presentable dresses and playing rather modern music.
You would have easily recognised the ladies as they were surrounded in a flock of people, including many small children. Occasionally you might have noted one of the musical ladies calling out to her roving child, reminding he or she to remain close to the flock, all the while continuing to make sweet music for the crowds.
If you had have thrown some spare change in the guitar case in front of the three ladies they might have cheered and called out their thanks at you in the most surprisingly forward way. In fact, in a most unorthodox manner, you might have also noted that they even occasionally cheered for their own songs at the end of each ditty.
If you had have sat down upon one of the nearby wooden seats to relax and enjoy the jovial music they were offering, you might have also noted that some songs were spaced rather far apart, due to the long, engaging, and rather personal (if you don’t mind my saying) conversations that were being held between members of the trio and members of the public (some of whom appeared not to have taken a brush to their locks for many months!).
You may have also noted that each of these musical women had the useful knack of being able to continue to play as she turned complete 360 degree circles eyeing her small child as he or she made fast progress about the lovely grassy Village Green. The ladies were also adept at checking that their children were safe from harm’s way, despite the continuous screaming arising from the throng of rather unruly children behind them.
And if you had have been especially close you would have noticed that half-way through the lovely trio’s musical set, a short handsome man in a large car pulled up just in front of the trio, got to chatting with the pretty blonde lady on harmonies, and offered the ladies a performance opportunity on the 5th of January at the annual Mardi Gras. Well! What exciting news for the ladies! They vowed to get together for tea and scones and a good chat about the opportunity at the earliest possible occasion.
Finally, had you remained on your seat until their final songs you will have noted them laughingly calling out to another lady-like friend and excitedly pulling her into their midst for a spot of un-practiced harmonies, ending on a lovely note.
Goodness me, I don’t know who those ladies were but they appeared to be having the most marvelous fun!
I should say the lead singer would have rated today’s performance 10/10
