365 Days of Fun and Chillaxation – 301 – Sending Out My Prayers for the People of Christchurch

Submitted by on February 22, 2011 – 6:53 pm 3 Comments

What a day here in New Zealand.  This is one of those time when the real priorities in life such as family and loved ones, become obvious.  After a huge quake and months of after-shocks, Christchurch was today hit by another large earth-quake – 6.3 on the Richter scale.  I won’t go into the details, they’re all over the media (google it) – which I’ve been listening to all afternoon (Radio NZ have been doing a great job).  But my heart aches for our friends in Canterbury.

So for those of us around the globe who would love to help in some small way – I would like to remind you about the power of intent.  Call it what you will – prayer, visualization, asking, chanting, focusing – it works.  People have sworn by it for thousands of years.  People use it to make plants thrive, help sick people get better, turn failure into success and in as many other creative ways that you or I can dream up.

So right now I’m ‘asking’ that our loved ones and friends in Christchurch find a safe, warm, secure place to sleep tonight as the dusk begins to settle in, and that as many as possible of them manage to emerge – alive and well – from where ever they were when the quake hit.  I’m asking that people down there remain calm and find it in their hearts to support each other and help each other through until more support comes, or until they’re able to find a safe place to base themselves, now.  I’m asking that people are able to reconnect with their loved ones quickly and easily.  I’m asking that people experience miracles over the next few days, amazing seemingly impossible, soul touchingly good, miracles that their families will still talking about in generations to come because they made it through.  I’m sending them my love.  Right now they really need it.

As within any community that have experienced a natural disaster, the people of Christchurch are going to need enormous emotional, physical and financial support from now and through out the next few months and even years.  The good thing is, that by nature people are kind, and we like to take care of each other.

My thoughts are with our Christchurch friends too. I was so releaved to hear my dearest friend, visiting from the uk, was ok. I still have a couple of close friends I’m waiting to hear from. Like most of us – I wait and pray.

Thanks Charlotte,it was good to read that after hearing and seeing what is happening in my home town and old home base, Lyttelton. I have already heard of miracles and hope for many more to come. There is a prayer session up here in Coromandel at Mana Retreat centre tonight as well.My heart is heavy with it all but getting lighter with every loved I hear is safe and sound. Arohanui to my hometown, land and all those within it, Becks xo
