Minka Boddé-Phillips, is a  mother of four babes first and foremost, then wife, part time Family Lawyer in her own practise and current Board Member of the Central North Island Kindergarten Association. Minka has had extensive involvement with Parents Centre NZ as Co President of her local committee and then the New Zealand College of Midwives as a Consumer reviewer. She has always been passionate about empowering women and families while promoting natural parenting in a new and sometimes overwhelming modern environment. While pregnant with her 4^th child, on Mother’s Day 2006, Minka launched New Zealand’s first online community just for Mothers – Mothers Online. The community quickly grew and Mothers Online became a well known resource for all mothers in the era of digital times.

Minka continued to see huge potential for our physical, spiritual and emotional environments by mothers uniting online and 3 years later, began working with a team of

enthusiasts who also saw the potential of a worldwide online network. In getting clear on the vision, a rebrand was the natural progression from “babyhood” to “preschool”.

On Mother’s Day 2010, 4 years after the launch of Mothers Online, the big swell began its journey as an online presence for like minded women, reclaiming the innate

nature, joy and simplicity of motherhood in a modern society that creates a challenge. That created a challenge of its own and in order to fund the ongoing development of the site, Minka returned to practicing Law and developing her career there absorbed any excess energy she had after caring for her very busy young family and her clients.

In late 2011, after her return from the United Kingdom, Minka was joined by her long time “Mummy Buddy” Rachael Bell. Having worked together successfully as co presidents for Rotorua Parents Centre NZ and shared many early “Mamahood” journeys, it was an easy transition to again start sharing their mutual passions and goals for the future. As a Social Worker, wife and mother of 2 boys, Rachael has a genuine love of people and is enthusiastic about growing the big swell and its online vision for the future. As having recently returned from her “other” home country of the United Kingdom, she brings a global approach to the team and the “health” of our families online.

With Rachael’s formal addition to the Team, and Minka’s regained enthusiasm for her long held dreams, the big swell has a new energy in which the years of connections, common goals and other “naturally” synchronized businesses can finally align.
