However, you are right to question the low growth rate for cycling in Auckland. Sure it’s a bigger city, more spread out etc, but the reality is that there are cities twice as big as Auckland overseas with great PT and cycling routes. Auckland has suffered a horrendous bout of poorly planned urban sprawl and even more poorly planned motorway expansion, but with some evidence based planning Auckland can turn itself around and get people on their bikes.
