Help the Pallet Pavilion stay alive for one more summer
The future of the biggest, boldest Gap Filler project to date, the Pallet Pavilion, is being decided in the month of May. Gap Filler is asking for your support to be a champion of a fundraising campaign that will decide whether the pavilion will stay or go. We need you to share it and spread the word far and wide as best you can.
Gap Filler activates vacant sites in post-quake Christchurch with temporary, creative projects for community benefit. (www.gapfiller.org.nz). Our Pallet Pavilion was built in late 2012 by 250+ volunteers using 3000 wooden pallets. It was conceived to respond to the loss of venues for live music and community events in post-quake Christchurch. It repurposes and recycles materials to create a piece of temporary architecture for the community. An extremely ambitious project, it has been an incredible success.
More than 25 000 people have visited in just 5 months and it has hosted more than 100 events from live music to markets to children’s parties to lectures. 45 volunteers have contributed to it running across the Summer.
It is without a doubt Gap Filler’s biggest and most successful project to date. It has had amazing media coverage, too with features n Australian Geographic, Cuisine, the Daily Mail, the Weekend Australian and more.
As you know, the Pavilion is a temporary project and its deconstruction was due to take place in May this year. So NOW in other words. But across March and April many people have asked if we can keep the Pavilion ion the site for another year.
But we can’t afford to keep it. So we’re putting it to you, our friends, fans, supporters and community to help us raise the money needed and also spread the word.
If you would like to support the Pavilion please go to https://www.pledgeme.co.nz/1064 . This is our public campaign where we are trying to raise $80 000. There is an awesome four-minute film on our page to tell the story of our beautiful project and we’ve organized some special rewards for all those lovely people who can give to the campaign.
The Pledge Me campaign will run for 30 days. If we reach our target of $80 000 in that time, we get to keep the money. If we don’t reach it, we get none. And then the decision is made
We also have 12 opportunities for 12 companies to donate $5000 each in addition to this Pledge Me campaign. This will give these companies a pallet-length plaque and logo placement inside the Pavilion for all to see. This will publicly acknowledge these 12 companies as those that helped save the Pallet Pavilion. If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact [email protected]
Thank you all so much for your support. Even if you can’t donate yourself, please share this with as many people as you can.
The only way we can raise the money we need is through the community pulling together in a combined effort, much like the way in which it was built.
Thank you again,
X Gap Filler
