The Scrooser combines human power and an electric motor

Submitted by on August 26, 2013 – 3:57 pm

Mother Nature Network has a great article on a new type of transportation – The Scrooser. I can’t wait until we see these on our roads here – an innovative way to get around and it looks cool!

Like an electric-bicycle, the Scrooser combines human power and an electric motor that activates intelligently each time the rider pushes the ground. This allows for comfortable cruising at speeds up to 15 miles per hour. But because the electric motor only assists the rider’s legs and doesn’t provide 100 percent of the power required to move, a single charge of the lithium-ion battery should last about 25 days in Eco-Mode in an urban environment.

There’s good news and bad news on availability. Bad news first: you can’t buy one yet, as it’s still in the development phase. But the good news is that the project isn’t some vaporware that has no chance of seeing the light of day. The company has been more than fully financed by Kickstarter with more than $186,000 raised, passing their original $120,000 goal by more than $66K!
