Groovy House Wives take Random Acts of Kindness Day to new level in Christchurch
September 1st was Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) and in Christchurch a group of friends known as the “Groovy House Wives” spread the love with gusto in their community.
RAK organiser Feebee Newlands said the day was an “amazing success” in Christchurch.
“Our Mission of Kindness started in Hagley Park at 8.30, giving out donated chocolate bars and muesli packs, followed by visits to children at Ronald McDonald House and the children’s cancer ward at Christchurch Hospital, giving them gifts and beautiful pictures drawn by students at Paparoa Street Primary School with the words “You are Special”. Surgical and Maternity wards were also on the receiving end.”
Feebee said two Red Zone families received boxes of goodies “and then it was off to give food and gifts to help the inspiring Daniel Chung feed the hungry as he has done for the last 6 years.”
Patients at Nurse Maude’s Hospice were next on the list, receiving flowers donated by Aromaunga Flowers and also gifts, “whilst being entertained by a group from the amazing Sweet Adelines, with their soaring voices.”
People in New Regent Street were “astounded” when they were given a free gift and often a free hug. Some received “beautiful roses”. Feebee said it was great to have the support of Nicky Wagner, Lianne Dalziell, Yani Johannsen and Deon Swiggs.
Random Acts of Kindness/Paying it Forward Day will be screening on CTV. Feebee and the Groovy Housewives of Christchurch wanted to thank “the wonderful Alex, and to Peter for his YouTube video”. And the “many, many generous donors in Christchurch, you know who you are, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping to make a difference.”
