Mission complete: Happyzine Eat Local Challenge
The 2015 Happyzine Eat Local Challenge has come to a close, with ten Kiwi teams attempting to live off a diet of food grown within a 200 kilometre radius, for the 30 days of April.
Teams were based in Hawkes Bay, Waikato, around Auckland and in Tasman.
Happyzine Director Charlotte Squire said the series of blogs each contestant sent in provides a colourful story of the highs and lows of eating local, with most contestants struggling to stick to the rules.
“Eating within the 200 km was a tough call, but they did amazingly well. I would like to congratulate each person who took on the challenge for all the energy and enthusiasm they brought to the challenge,” she said.
An eat local expert talked to some participants, encouraging them on their mission.
The contestants blogs – which contain stories, recipes and images can be viewed at: https://happyzine.co.nz/category/eat-local-challenge/
The winner of the challenge will be announced this Monday 4th May.
