Pop up repair cafe launched in Auckland
Auckland Now reported that a pop up Repair Cafe had been set up in Pt Chevalier. “Residents bring their broken items and get them repaired for free while learning the skills to fix them in the future.”
Everything from appliances, broken lamps, furniture and kettles were fixed. People with the skills to fix them, such as electricians, volunteered their time.
This is New Zealand’s first pop up repair cafe. It was hosted by a group of residents.
The event was based on a movement that started in Holland in 2009 and is now happening in more than 18 countries.
The country’s first pop-up repair cafe was hosted by a group of Pt Chevalier residents this month.
