365 Days of Fun and Chillaxation – 291 – Saun the Sheep

Submitted by on February 12, 2011 – 11:00 pm One Comment

Have any of you come across a strange yet engaging phenomena called ‘Saun the Sheep’?  Made by the same people who produced Wallace and Grommit this kiddie’s series is a must see.  It’s hilarious!

There are no spoken words in Saun the Sheep – which basically seems to consist of the adventures of a way cool and very popular sheep called Saun who leads aerobics classes and can get his sheep to do anything, and I mean anything.  As well as Saun the sheep there’s the sheep dog, who hangs out and acts like a human.  Yes, yes, this may all seem pretty typical of a plastercine animation, but you’ve gotta watch it and check out the mannerisms of the red headed farmer man.

He’s all bloke.  Happy to live alone on the farm with his dog and sheep.  Likes to get up to a few hobbies on the side such as restoring a boat (which the dog and the sheep-flick manage to sink in his swimming pool during a pirate fight).  Is  perfectly happy to settle in on the couch with a hot chocolate for the evening (plus one for the dog) and watch TV.  The crazy and wondrous thing about the farmer are his facial expressions and his grunts.  They’ve really got the farmer character sussed.  They’ve given him this manly, shy, expressive, unexpectedly kind personality.

As I’ve said: you’ve gotta watch it.

Saun the Sheep.  You heard it here.

Very good, except that the sheep’s name is Shaun (as in the screenshot you’ve included)… ;-)
