365 Days of Fun and Chillaxation – 295 – Clarity During the Takaka Crossing

Submitted by on February 16, 2011 – 9:00 pm

The Takaka Hill.  Have you ever experienced it?  If you’ve driven to Golden Bay, in the North West of the South Island, you’ve crossed it.  Some call it the Marble Mountain.  It’s shot through with quartz caves and covered with wild bush.  The nights are cold there, all year round, and during the days the temperatures can reach extremes.  Some say when you drive ‘the hill’ the most amazing ideas flash though your mind. Actually, I’m one of those people.  Thoughts some how become clearer.  Momentous conversations are held.  Today I crossed the hill, enjoyed the brilliant epiphanies, inhaled the native bush and loved being on the road.  Why is it that when I set out on a road trip, all of a sudden my entire life stretches out in front of me and makes sense?  It’s been a busy year so far.  It’s nice to chillax.
