Happiness and Pudginess Go Hand in Hand

Summer Love

This is quite funny.  It’s a piece in the Boston Globe called ‘Happiness Takes the Cake’ by someone who has found true love.  She’s having a great time with her new man, and the thing is, relaxing and chowing down yummy food seems to go hand in hand for her.  In fact she’s put on … one or two pounds.  Whoops.  But she’s having fun!  And, really, who cares? I can relate to this, having gone down the same road.  How many times have I scoffed whole bags of chips, or vast quantities of chocolate whilst spending quality time with lovely people?  Food and feeling good – well they are one … aren’t they?

“At least I know that I’m not alone in the phenomenon. A study last year at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill found that newlyweds put on more weight than their single counterparts. Married male newlyweds gain six more pounds than gents who stayed single. And single ladies may want their men to put a ring on it, but once they get the ring, they gain nine more pounds over five years compared to those who are still on the market.”
