Summer Solstice in Aotearoa – Photo Essay

San Pedro cactus thrust their flowers outwards at exactly Summer Solstice

the longest day and shortest night of the year

We think the ancestors of this Rata  Tree once stood where our house stands now

and somehow this fledgling this mokopuna

has forged new life

blooming red and sure

beckoning the visitors

and welcoming the family home

Blue Borage

Meanwhile Blue Borage calls in the bees

Lettuce (Organic)

and the lettuce is blooming and feeding the family with sunlight, air, and energy

And so we thrive, surrounded in the flowers, the warmth and the generosity of summer.
