365 Days of Fun and Chillaxation – Blog#45 – Serious Slumber Action

Submitted by on May 30, 2010 – 7:18 pm

It’s been a busy week on the Happyzine front. You know, workshops to plan and run, Youth Coordinators to negotiate with (I nearly lost mine to TVNZ!).  So today I was able to hand my son over to his much loved father while I took to the bed and relaxed into a state of deep slumber.  Now for those of you who have not entered into the world of parentdom yet, for many of us (yes, there are lucky exceptions) sleep becomes the most valuable commodity.  It’s more valuable than going out for delicious breakfasts, getting up for an early yoga class, breakfast in bed, lucritave meetings with potential sponsors, gold etc.  Some mornings I would happily pay good money for an hour’s extra sleep (I’m talking in the tens of dollars here!).  So this morning I bade farewell to my son and his father and the dog and the gorgeous sunny day and lay still, corpse like, in recovery mode.  Yes, people rang, games were played, cups of teas were made, there could have been a hardcore dance party out in the living room for all I cared.  And all the while I was dreaming.  I could practically feel my cells regenerating, my grey hairs returning to their former glory and my ‘laugh lines’ smoothing out into miles of soft, youthful, elasticated skin.
Ahhh stillness.  So precious, so replenishing.  So underrated.
