365 Days of Fun and Chillaxation – Blog#85 – Sending Out the Word To Positive, Green Project Managers

Submitted by on July 10, 2010 – 4:34 pm

Hello groovers!

Well, today I’ve been putting my daily quota of effort into writing my e-book (as I promised to you a few days ago in my ‘pinned down‘ blog) and I decided to share this letter with you, in case you are a person who would like to be involved in my e-book, or you know someone who might want to contribute.  It feels good to be tapping away at this project, very soon I’ll be up to my eye-balls in material to collate for a tickety-boo e-book.

My goal for the previous week was to have asked everyone I could think of to be in my e-book, and get organised.  I’ve done both jobs.  Yay!  I’m impressed with myself.  God I love feeling organised.  I was telling my flat-mate the other night, that as child I would occasionally work really hard on a project and achieve great results and realise that this was indeed the key to doing well at school.  Then I’d think ‘stuff that!’  and carry on enjoying myself and doing everything at the last minute.  Well I’m a grown-up now, I only do that half the time! :-)

Side-note: it is a gorgeous blue-skied winter day here in Takaka Golden Bay.  The doors and windows are flung wide open despite the icy breeze (must be snow somewhere), we had home-made fish and chips for lunch with organic salad (yum!).  The radios blaring and my son is playing merrily with his menacing looking, long stick, you know waving it at the dogs and people as they walk past our house.  All is well.

Here’s the letter that I just posted on intersect – feel free to forward it on:

Kia Ora,

My name’s Charlotte Squire,I’m the editor of a positive news website called www.happyzine.co.nz.  We have a strong focus on positive environmental news.  Are you working on an exciting environmental project? Share the good news in this new e-book!

I’m currently writing and illustrating an e-book about about ‘optimism’ and the important role that it plays in the green movement.  It describes ten positive thinking techniques and gives examples of the way ten people are using them, world-wide, within their various professions to creative exciting environmental change.  To give some examples of the people I’m profiling – there’s Sarah Turner, who was the recent winner of inhabitat.com‘s Spring Greening Competition with her lamps that are made out of recycled fizzy drink bottles; Emily Harris – winner of the Happyzine DreamtoReality competition who is currently developing a roof top gardens scheme for the Auckland (NZ) CBD; Annabell McAcleer who is the Editor of NZ’s Good Magazine and more … each talk about their journeys as environmentalists and how the sense of enjoyment and good communication and optimism have indeed guided them through.

My hope for this e-book (which will be the first of a series) is to inspire people to get a little creative and dream a little deeper about the roles they can step into for the good of the planet, and to help trigger the passion and excitement that will lead to more positive environmental change.

I’m looking for the right people to take the time to answer one or two of the following questions.    For those who are interested, if you consented to being interviewed I would, of course, credit your quotes to you and provide hyper-links directly back to your website.  Here are the questions –

* Have you used the power of visualization to help create positive environmental change? If so, can you explain how?

*  Do you have any thoughts on the importance of maintaining life balance as an environmentalist, and how do you personally keep the balance between your personal life and your work?

*  Do you have any specific models of communication that you find useful? Can you explain how to use this technique and provide one example of how it’s come in useful?

*  Do you believe in the power of focus aka: the law of attraction?  If you do, can you explain how you apply this as an environmentalist?

*  Do you have a mentor who has inspired you to reach higher and take your dreams for the planet further than you would have without their influence?

*  Do you enjoy your work?  How do you ensure that you continue to have a good time while you create positive ripples of change for the planet?

I look forward to hearing from you,

with thanks,

Charlotte Squire
