365 Days of Fun and Chillaxation – Blog#186 – In Ten Year’s Time Everyone Will Have One of These
Look what I got in the mail today! Thanks Tish. Yes, it’s a Haylo Bag – one of those bags you put around you food to keep it warm, or to keep the food cooking. It’s so exciting. I’m going to try out my pot of porridge in it very soon, I’ve just got to buy some more organic rolled oats as I gave my bag away today to my friend who is a fellow porridge eater as a ‘hello I haven’t seen you in ages’ present. As you do.
The Haylo Bag is bigger and softer than I expected, and it doesn’t make a very attractive hat. Though I’m sure it would be immensely warm. This is what Tish North said about her bags:
“For years, I have used a type of hay box made from two specifically shaped styrofoam pillows that fit tightly around a cooking pot to insulate and preserve the heat in the pot. In this way, the contents of the pot maintain their temperature as the cooking is in process. They used to be a real asset when I did catering and could produce piping hot food hours after preparation for large numbers of people in remote areas. Although this method worked, I found that the bags I used were bulky and not easy to transport, so I decided I wanted to design a similar, but smaller device with the same successful energy-saving properties that would:
- retain heat
- fit multiple size pots
- be portable
- be small and light enough to carry for outdoor pursuits
- be made with recycled materials.”
When we posted her original article up on Happyzine we were flooded with inquiries about them from all over the world. You can actually win one by joining Club HZ. Tish gave me one to giveaway to you – who ever you are.
Anyway, I’m off to bed. Can’t wait to use my new cool bag, so exciting, preferably in front of other people because it will make a great conversation piece. I’ll have to be casual yet strategic about its usage.
