365 Days of Fun and Chillaxation – Blog 229 – Sometimes Inspiration Just Needs the Same Message in a Different Dress

Submitted by on December 10, 2010 – 6:48 pm

Yesterday I was one of those people with a cold who felt as if she was she was dying.  I was blatantly melodramatic in a manner which is generally more characteristic of men with colds.  I felt exhausted, achy, sensitive and low in spirits. I was uncharacteristically cynical and after years of restraint, I found myself thoroughly enjoying a good moan – to anyone who would listen.  Yes, I needed to go to that place.  But it didn’t really feel that good.

So when I found an old (but new to me) paper back about positive thinking (it’s amazing how these books find us at the right time isn’t it?) I thought I’d better give her a whirl.  Something, somewhere in the dim shadows of my subconscious mind whispered: “it’s best that you feed your mind with this now”.  It was my wise, sensible, motherly self.  The part of me that knows what’s best.  The part that also whispers ‘you’ve had enough to drink’ or ‘not the whole block of chocolate’.  So I listened and did as I was told.

The book was written from a Christian perspective and a bold heading informed me that fourteen million copies had been printed and sold.  While I’m no Christian, I most definitely am a God lover. So I tucked into my new book – which is called The Power of Positive Thinking and sure enough (thankfully) the faith began to seep back through my bones.

Well you know what happens when the faith returns!  You relax!

And you know what happens when you relax!  Good stuff happens!

So today I found the flat mate I’d been looking for for six weeks, plus I found the part-time job I’d been ponderously thinking it would be good to have – working for the Department of Conservation protecting the most pure water on the planet, plus I successfully pushed my ebook out to more and more editors world-wide.  Also, I told my friend that my cold felt as if it was receding like a fast low tide.

I’d taken on the instructions of the new book and subsequently felt very relaxed and trusting.  It makes a profound difference doesn’t it?  For me, variety IS the spice of life.  Reading the same positive thinking messages day in day out eventually becomes utterly boring and meaningless.  But seeking to fill the mind with fresh inspiration is a great way to surprise and delight the mind and the heart.

Today’s rating: 9/10

PS, here’s the same message, from another perspective – George Micheal’s.  Rock on in those tight jeans George:
