20th Anniversary: Festival of Opportunities – Nelson

Submitted by on February 19, 2011 – 11:34 pm

Nelson’s “Festival of Opportunities” to be held at Founders Heritage Park on 5-6 March 2011, is
celebrating its 20th anniversary this year with new organisers, Chai and Bex Deva from Nelson.
An internationally renowned wellness and lifestyle weekend, the festival is all about creating
Opportunities to experience the best in alternative health wellbeing spirituality for your body and
your life. “This year it is also about celebration, enjoying great music, with others in a great setting”
says Bex, “coming together and sharing our creativity, and appreciating what we have on offer here
in Aotearoa.”

Featuring a full program of over 60 free workshops and lectures there’s a chance to expand your
knowledge, try something new and have fun! From Indian head massage, Laughter Yoga and The Nia
Technique, to nutrition, face reading, permaculture and conscious relationships.

For those wanting to get their hands, (and possibly feet!) dirty, there will be a chance to make a cob/mud pizza oven.

The festival will also feature a Clothes Swap, where you can go shopping by swapping, exchanging unwanted clothes for tickets to buy new to you items!

This year the festival will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a new look, including a kids zone, circus skills area and some great music from NZ and international musicians including; The Mamaku Project( an eclectic mix of dub with European and Pacific flavours), Tommy, Caitlin and Sika, Tina
Bridgman and Nelson’s own Samba De Sol. All providing you with the chance to sit and relax with some yummy nourishing food from the food area or to hit the dance floor and celebrate!

There is something for everyone from the diverse range of local, national and international presenters, stallholders and therapists – this year including GiGi Sosnoski, Sue Nicholson, Geoffrey Morell, Medicine Crow and John Scott.

GiGi Sosnoski has been giving professional Astrological readings to clients from all walks of life and from all over the world for more than 25 years, she has developed a form of reading which she calls ‘Motivational Astrology’. GiGi now serves her growing International and New Zealand-wide
clientele through phone and in-person and is also a regular on TVNZ’s Good Morning show with her encouraging forecast segments.

Sue Nicholson, as seen on TV’s Sensing Murder and The Good Morning Show, is a gifted healer and medium and has been connecting with spirit since she was a child. Sue is internationally renowned as a speaker and healer and we are very fortunate to have her at this year’s festival sharing healing
sessions.

Geoffrey Morell is an amazing healer with over 40 years of experience, helping 100’s of people avoid the need for surgery by bringing balance to the body as a Medical Intuitive. He will be sharing a lecture on The Clendinning Technique, his developed form of intuitive medical healing. Geoffrey will
also be offering sessions over the weekend.

Dr Medicine Crow is a Cherokee- Deleware descendant, the oldest documented tribe of Indians. He is a Doctor of Metaphysics and has Master status in the discipline of Shia Ryoho Reiki. He travels internationally conducting ceremonies, workshops and retreats, demonstrating how to live from
a spiritual perspective connecting with nature. He will be sharing a free talk each day, as well as holding a Shamanic Circle Saturday night (6.15-8.15pm $25).

Astanga yoga teacher and author John Scott is known worldwide and will be demonstrating the art of yoga.

All of this will be on offer in the delightful and historical setting of Founders Heritage Park, which is a short walk from Nelson city, on the bus route and has ample parking.
