Vodafone Calls on Social Entreprenuers to Make a Difference
The Vodafone New Zealand Foundation is looking for social entrepreneurs who want to make a difference in the lives of young Kiwis and will pay eight individuals to do just that.
The annual World of Difference programme pays the salary and expenses for passionate Kiwis to work full-time for a year with a youth-related charity of their choice.
“The World of Difference programme means I can spend a year focussed on making a dream become a reality,” says current recipient Guy Ryan who is working with the Inspiring Stories Trust.
Ryan uses film to foster innovation, stimulate conversation and enable faster collective learning. He is running workshops with young people nationwide supporting them to produce inspiring stories of young people doing great things in their communities. “With support from the Vodafone Foundation, we can really make a difference.”
Fellow recipient Fiona Hargreaves of 180 Degrees Trust in Christchurch says, “Vodafone’s support is invaluable; it’s enabling me to pilot an agricultural programme with at risk young men. I saw a real need for this service and now I can run it.”
The World of Difference programme is moving into its 10th year. The programme originated in New Zealand and is now replicated across 15 other countries in which Vodafone operates. Globally, over 1,500 people have taken part in the programme.
