Carlin Archer - Founder of Ecobob

1.  What’s the purpose of www.ecobob.co.nz?

The purpose of Ecobob is to facilitate the sharing of information on eco friendly homes and support people who wish to live in a more environmentally friendly way. We have a strong focus on eco building / eco houses but also have information on all areas of eco living. The web site includes a business directory, profiles of eco houses, a chat forum, news, events and eco information.

2.  What is Ecobob’s background, what inspired it’s beginning and how has it grown over time?

The web site was launched back in 2007 and has grown to become one of New Zealand’s most popular environmental web sites. The web site was created when I wanted to use my web software development company (www.redweb.co.nz) to do something that would benefit society by encouraging Kiwi’s to live in a sustainable way and supporting them on their journey.

3.  Can you describe some exciting change Ecobob has helped facilitate, or is currently working on?

I think we have helped highlight some of the amazing eco friendly houses that Kiwi’s have built and hopefully encouraged many others to consider eco features on their new homes or retrofitting their existing homes.

4.  What are the future aspirations of Ecobob?

We are looking to expand on our web site to include more interactive features and also release another web site to encourage the uptake of sustainable food.
