Meet My Shiny Red New ECOtanka (And Go in the Draw to Win One!)

Submitted by on November 9, 2011 – 4:22 pm

A sad thing happened to me after the final of the rugby World Cup.  After a tense and strangely humbling game, I carried my sleeping four year old out to the car and forgot my ECOtanka.  Yes, I left it at my friend’s house.  Her man discovered it very early the next morning as he was heading out to work on a boat.  And the rest is history.  I haven’t seen it since.  And who can blame him?  Mine was the biggest ECOtanka, a large, sturdy water vessel.  And a stylish silver one at that.  I can just imagine him out on the boat with his work mates watching enviously as he swigs happily from the ECOtanka.  And after he’d feel replete and secure in the knowledge that he had much more water to go.  Yes, sort of like a ‘men and their cars’ pecking order thing, only with drink bottles.

So you can imagine my delight to receive a brand new ECOtanka drink bottle just this morning.  Yes, fresh from ECOtanka HQ it had been couriered straight to me.  A nice shiny red one.  Though I could have chosen a pink one.  Or a blue one.  I stayed loyal to my roots, red’s always been the colour for me.

Just in case you weren’t aware, the ECOtanka concept was designed by people with a passion for health and for the environment.  They’re stainless steel bottles, which was a first for New Zealand.  ECOtankas last for years and years; they’re safe and non-leaching; they’re free of BPA (icky chemical used in plastics); they’re made of solid food grade stainless steel and they’re are very hygenic and easy to keep clean.

I keep my ECOtanka with me at all times (a spin off from my thirsty breast-feeding days) and have bought many a small ECOtanka for my friends with small children – just because us Mothers get fussy about the plastic leaching issue.

To find out where to buy an ECOtanka check out the ‘where to buy’ page on the ECOtanka website.  If your local ECOtanka supplier doesn’t yet have the new coloured range in, just let them know you’re interested and they should order them for you.

Two Ways You Can WIN a New Coloured ECOtanka

All members of Club Happyzine automatically go in the draw to win an ECOtanka.  Also, there’s another way to win one: during the next Car Free Sunday (27th November) you can win one by emailing us in a digital of the ‘Most imaginative way you got from from A to B with out using fossil fuels’!

Check out www.ecotanka.com for more info about ECOtankas – eco-friendly drink bottles.
