Letter to the Editor: Fun, Romantic Car Free Sunday

Submitted by on December 1, 2011 – 1:44 pm

Dear Editor,
I would like to thank you for publicising Car Free Sundays.
My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our car free day. We biked to the local farmers market to pick up a few yummy treats and met friends for a lunchtime picnic in a beautiful local park. Sundays are relaxed in our circle of friends and people drifted in and out, stretching lunch into a 2 hour feast :)
Afterwards we played a bit of Frisbee, which must’ve looked such fun because up to 8 children from a neighbouring picnic joined in!
We biked home happy and relaxed after spending time with good friends.
Later that day we biked to our local Thai Takeaway, enjoyed a romantic dinner and pushed our biked home as we were to full to pedal.
A great day, enhanced by the fact we had not used the car, not had to think about parking, driving, or fuel and it’s impact on our environment.
Thanks again,
Ants Field
