SOLD: Beautiful Happyzine

Well, I’m sitting cross legged ignoring the TV (though it’s still a novelty for me) and writing my daily blog.  Today, I’ve got a man voice – ’cause I caught a cold.  And I’ve been at the doctor’s with my son – ’cause he caught a cold too.  And so it was clearly time for this groovy Mama to take it easy.

As part of my strict taking it easy regime I followed a link on facebook and found out what AJ Hickling’s been up to lately.  He’s been sailing round the pacific seas with his drum, playing music with anyone who will join in and just going where ever he feels like going.  His project’s called ‘Evolving Rhythms’ and (despite my struggle to spell the word ‘rhythms’) I dig his work.

Here’s a blurb from his site:

“Eight months of sailing in the south pacific, shooting music and dance with cameras powered by the wind and sun. The most remote islands we could sail to were the goal. My language was rhythm, my passport, my drum, my witness, my camera, and the rest just evolved. The cross cultural, musical multi media collaboration and exploration continues.”

It would seem that he’s making a movie called ‘Island Styles’ which you can check out here. I checked out a few (they’re in parts, on you tube) and was inspired.  AJ was very inspired by One Giant Leap and this shows.  Take a look at his site if you’re looking for some fresh, off the grid soul awakening excitement.  Seriously, I had some great ideas as I watched his movies (always a good sign).  Here’s part one of his movie:
