Connect With NYC’s Award Winning Green Planner Majora Carter, Join the August Green Dream Launch Pad Course!

New Zealand based Charlotte Squire, Founder and Editor of the green, good news website www.happyzine.co.nz is excited. She’s just about to kick off a new Green Dream Launch Pad course – an online course for people who are ready to step up to begin or improve green projects, businesses or careers – and she has the help of 2011 Ted prize winner, New York City based, South Bronx local and green urban planner Majora Carter.

Majora has agreed to answer questions from Green Dream Launch Pad course participants on video for the August course only.

The month long Green Dream Launch Pad course takes place online, via a private facebook group for ninety minutes each Monday evening (Kiwi time). It involves a series of short online videos, as well as some inspiring reading and group work. During the course participants will work with a ‘buddy’, and find a ‘soul mentor’. Squire, a long-time ‘green dreamer’ herself, said she developed the course to help people to “to dream, design, strategise and launch their very own new or improved green project, business or career.”

“I’ve worked in the green industry for years as a communicator, mentor and entrepreneur. As a passionate environmentalist myself, it took me a while to work out what I could bring to this deeply important work. I think it’s about appreciating what we each bring to the table as unique people, with different strengths and histories.

“I firmly believe that every single person has something powerful and special to offer the emergence of a green economy world-wide and it’s an honour to work alongside some of these passionate people as they clarify this and create the foundations to carry their green work into the future.”

Squire says the variety of green projects and businesses that she’s seen launched on her courses so far has been “breath taking and hope-building.

“It’s been a powerful and emotive experience for me to watch some world-changing ideas take shape and become, real, feasible projects, that will lead future generations into a greener, more positive future on the Green Dream Launch Pad courses.

“We’re talking: living streets, green fashion design, the development of new green communities, reviving the old trades of our communities, organic herbal teas, and the white roofs project to name a few.

“It’s my job to help people uncover the green aspirations they already hold inside. Sometimes all people need is a little encouragement and a safe space to share their dreams.”

Squire says she leads course participants through a four week process of ‘dream, design, strategise and launch’ and that the work combines positive thinking and ‘dreaming big and green’ with structured goal setting, and financial planning.

Dr Sean Weaver, who works in New Zealand and the Pacific islands in the field of native forest protection is also on board to support participants. Sean has helped preserve vast areas of ancient forest, particularly on the west coast of the New Zealand’s South Island, and in Vanuatu in Fiji.”
