Press release: Frocks on bike
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Auckland’s Cycling Community out to Shine
AUCKLAND: Long limbed frames, greasy chains and designer names will come together with character and charm in Cycle Style, a free afternoon event at Silo Park on the 3rd of March.
“As cycling gains popularity in Auckland we are seeing more men and women dressed up while riding through the city, heels and all. Cycle Style aims to showcase current fashion paired with elegant transport, and you don’t have to sacrifice one for the other” says fashion coordinator Cleo Barnett.
“Bikes show a lot of personality” says event manager Craig Neilson. “They get customised and loved until they’re more than just an object, same as the  fashion we’ve selected to put on show.”
The designers include Dalston, We’Ar and Starfish, as well as the Foxes Collection and a specially produced retro show from K Road’s vintage stores. All shows are presented on a runway built for bicycles.
As well as five distinct fashion shows starting from noon, Cycle Style will include a performance from the Velociteers, Auckland’s synchronised cycling outfit and a bicycle polo gang. A group ride is scheduled for 4pm leading to a finale of show highlights at 4:30pm
A full schedule and more information about the shows is available from www.frocksonbikes.org
