Upgrading the energy efficiency of eight most visited community buildings in Sydney will save enough electricity to power 56 homes for a year. These buildings include swimming pools, childcare centres and community centres and the amount saved per year is equivalent to $30,000 which means the whole project will pay for itself in 7 years. As the Lord Mayor says. “Our childcare centres, pools and facilities are at the heart of community life, so it’s vital we ensure these buildings are as up-to-date and energy efficient as possible.” This project is part of the vision of Sydney to reduce carbon emissions  by 70% compared to 2007 levels by 2030 – so far they have reduced these emissions by 20%. It is great to see a city leading the way in providing more energy efficient community buildings and taking solid steps to reduce carbon emissions – well done Sydney.
