New Zealand to represent at UN Youth Forum

Young Christchurch journalist, Genevieve Ng, has been selected to represent New Zealand at the 8th UNESCO Youth Forum in Paris from 29 to 31 October.
“We’re thrilled that Genevieve will be representing our country,” says Elizabeth Chan, UNESCO New Zealand’s Special Advisor Youth. “She will be joining around 500 other young people from all over the world to exchange views, share experiences, reflect together and, above all, identify common issues and find solutions.”
“It’s a privilege to be able to represent New Zealand,” says Genevieve. “This will be a valuable lesson in global development and a practical means to kick-start some youth-led projects. I am keen to explore what matters to youth, in the hope of working towards more equitable and inclusive communities.”
Genevieve trained as a broadcast journalist and has worked extensively in television production. She has contributed to some of New Zealand’s most successful shows and is currently making a radio documentary on the Christchurch earthquake recovery.
She is committed to development work, having been engaged in a range of non-profit initiatives. She is driven to increase public understanding of relations between Asia and New Zealand, as a member of Asia New Zealand Foundation’s Young Leaders
Network. Genevieve is also involved with P3 Foundation, an organisation that seeks to reduce extreme poverty in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Youth Forum is an integral part of UNESCO’s General Conference. This year’s theme is “Youth and Social Inclusion: Civic Engagement, Dialogue and Skills Development”
