30 Day Eat Local Challenge begins today!

Submitted by on April 1, 2015 – 6:00 am

Sarah the Gardener and her Reluctant DiggersCould you eat food sourced within a 200 km radius of your home for 30 days?  As of today, over 20 individuals and teams around New Zealand will be taking on this challenge, as part of the relaunch of Happyzine as a solutions focused news site.

Over the next 30 days we’ll introduce you to the individuals and teams who have taken on the challenge.  You’ll read about their highs and lows, challenges and solutions through the month.  You are invited to support them by offering anything from advice and encouragement, to food if you live close by!

Please cheer on these brave participants, as they’re creating positive change  environmentally, socially, economically and for their own health.

The team or individual with the most supportive comments, and who has the least amount of food miles ‘under their belt’ at the end of April may win the grand prize – a whole lot of Kiwi made food!

Feel free to send us in your own locally produced recipes, photos and tips and go in draws to win spot prizes – vouchers to cafes who demonstrate environmental and social responsibility around Aotearoa.
