MEDIA RELEASE: SBN

16th June 2015

Entries open for 2015 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards

The Sustainable Business Network (SBN) announced today that entries are now open for the 2015 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards.

The NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards, which are now in their 13th year, are the pre-eminent and longest-standing sustainability awards in New Zealand. They celebrate the contribution organisations and individuals are making to transforming New Zealand to a more sustainable nation.

The Awards focus on four transformation areas that are key to the future direction of sustainability in New Zealand: Renewables, Community, Mega efficiency and Restorative.

Within each of these four categories there are separate awards for Impact (recognising the impact of specific programmes, projects or campaigns, or overall businesses that are making a tangible difference in their sector) and Innovation (recognising outstanding innovations that are meeting a pressing need). There are also awards for an individual Sustainability Champion, Communicating Sustainability and Energy management.

The supreme award, NZI Greatest Contribution to a Sustainable New Zealand, which last year was awarded to Yealands Family Wines, will be awarded to a business that has performed outstandingly well in all aspects of sustainability.

Entry to the awards is free and open to all organisations and individuals in New Zealand.

CEO of the SBN Rachel Brown says, “We’re looking for organisations and individuals who are innovating or having positive impacts on a range of activities. There is a stack of good stuff taking place in New Zealand, and we’re looking for all the good news we can gather to show that sustainability makes good business sense.

“We know that entering awards can be seen as a time consuming process so we’ve made sure that our entry process is easy. Entrants who are selected as finalists can dive into more detail on what they have been doing. That effort gives them profile on our website and Awards booklet, as well as really useful feedback from our expert judging panel.”

Travis Atkinson, Executive General Manager of NZI, the Principal Sponsor of the Awards says, “We have supported the Sustainable Business Network (SBN) since 2007 and have been a proud sponsor of the national awards since then.

“Being sustainable is important to NZI and fundamental to the way we do business. We believe in everything the SBN has set out to do and support them in their mission to inspire change.  We look forward to meeting the 2015 leaders of sustainability.”

Entries close on 10th August 2015. To find out more or to enter the NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards go towww.sustainable.org.nz.
