Stuff reported that over 35,000 every day Kiwis have succeeded in raising over two million dollars in a crowd funding campaign to raise the funds to buy an Awaroa beach.  Many people pledged five, ten and twenty dollars.  The 800 metre beach which the current owner described as “the best beach on the planet” will be gifted to the New Zealand government so it can become part of the Abel Tasman National Park if the organisers of the campaign succeed in their bid to buy it.  People are encouraged to keep pledging as the beach will be put to tender this Tuesday February 14th at 4pm.
